Interview with a Hacker

I was reading stuff online for a fix for an issue I came across at work, and found a blog post that I found interesting. I think it is pretty accurate to say for most young hackers, that they believe hacking is just a game, a pastime like baseball or football. For those that get hacked, it can be devastating, and for those of us that have to clean up after them, it can be a chore.

My FireFox Plugins – My Must Haves…

So as promised, I have comprised a list of Firefox plugins that I use at home and at work. This list is fairly long and most of them explain what I use them for. If you have a favorite plugin, please add it as a comment.

Preping for the Move to Xen

The Blog is going to be moving to my Xen Vps, so it may go down for a little while (hopefully not though).

Xen is Live On Lunarpages.com

Xen has gone live on lunarpages.com. Check it out Xen Plans

Site is going to get a makeover before I move it, and maybe get some changes made.

Happy Turkey Day, well sorta

My Thanksgiving was ok; not amazing, but ok. Since my Thanksgiving day plans kind of got changed last minute, I didn’t have Turkey, but Chicken rather, which I don’t mind because I am not a huge fan of turkey anyway (with the exception of turkey sandwiches).

I tried to call my mom to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving, but she didn’t answer her phone, so I called my grandma, to wish her a happy Thanksgiving, and I got filled in on the drama back home. I really hope that it doesn’t effect my trip next month. I can say one thing that I am rather excited/happy/thankful about/for, the project I have been so tediously tending to, has gone live, and is listed on the lunarpages website.

While I am on the subject, I am also thankful for my friends, family, my work and my dog shadow. Although I did not have dinner with all my friends, I still had a good dinner with my roommate. He was nice enough to cook it, since Cornish game hens is one of his special meals. Shadow even got a special treat (gravy), which he decided to lick up instead of eat, until Justn (my roommate) said something, at which point he decided to start eating his food.

When I said I am thankful for my work, it isn’t just because I have a job, but because I have a career that I enjoy doing, and I have people that support my looking into ways to make things better for everyone (our staff and our customers). I have done the full gambit of jobs; from a butcher to a bus boy, to computer sales to business sales, to car sales, to HOA Assistant to HOA Manager, to a JSA and now I am a JSA Supervisor. I am not going to continue to talk about my employment as I don’t want this post to sound like an ad, but I can say that I do enjoy what I do.

Well before I finish this post, I figure I should give say that the blog is going to move to my other VPS, which is on the Xen system, but it most likely won’t happen for a week or so, but once that is down I plan to post two more posts, One about how to turn an old computer into a Gateway, file storage, media server, and the next will be a list of Plug-ins I use for my firefox, and why I use them.

First Script Revision – Death To Httpd Flooders

So I started with the most widely used script that I have written, my phpDDoS reject scripts.  This single script has taken the place of the 3 scripts prior. Simply wget the file into the directory that you want to have it run from, make it executable.  From there you can create a cron job for it, or run -help and get more options for the script.  Download the script here.

Have Fun!!!

Oh and if you want test this I found this script called Slowloris. DO NOT USE THIS TO BE MALICIOUS!!!! Download it here.

New thewebsiteisdown.com Video

OMG, this has to be one of the best videos ever. I actually laughed out loud at this.

Learning Perl… Its not as complicated as I once thought.

So I started learning Perl scripting, as it has now become a tool that can greatly improve my efficiency at work. After toying with it a bit, I have decided that I am going to rewrite some of my other scripts in perl, and post them here, as perl tends to be more uniform. I will update more as I have more information.
