I got an iPhone

February 13th, 2012 by shadowdao received No Comments »

So I finally caved and got an iPhone (I actually got it at the end of December).  So I am going to eat crow about one of my previous articles, in where I stated that I would “never own an iPhone

In my defense, all the things that I wrote as my reasons to not getting an iPhone are ‘fixed’ and realistically my Thunderbolt, while amazingly fast was not stable enough for me.  Android needs to nip the fragmentation problem in the butt, as some phones can’t upgrade and run newer software, and bugs are developed from hardware differences.

I got a Black 4s 16GB one if you wanted to know.

WTF People? Stop Wasting our time and money!

So my google is personalized to me, and I saw a this headline “Guy Claims Google Owes Him $500 Billion” and it made me curious (as it should you). Reading over this two things strike me.  First, This is the second time the guy in this story (David Stebbins) has done this.  The last time, it was Walmart, and $600 Billion dollars, all because some one replied to an e-mail. (See Replying to an  Email Does Not Create A Contract)

I don’t know anybody like that.

Virtual Desktop – BETA Testers Needed

August 2nd, 2011 by Shadow received 2 Comments »

I have been working on creating a “Virtual-Desktop-as-a-service” for a while now.  I have hit bumps in the road, including technical aspects of fail-over and  redundancy, all the way to headache inducing licensing.

Now, with support from Citrix and Microsoft though, I have managed to now have something that I feel will work well, but I need beta testers!!!  That is where you the lucky reader come in.

We currently have the entire Microsoft Office Premium Suite, KeePass, Notepad ++, Netbeans, along with a few other programs and Virtual Desktop available through XenApp.  You will be able to use these applications at no cost during the course of the Beta, all I ask is that you provide bug reports and feedback. :-)

Post a comment below, or send me a message on Twitter to request a Beta Account.

A look @t My Music Choices

February 5th, 2011 by Shadow received 2 Comments »

For anyone that has known me for a while, music is a HUGE part of my life, and I can thank my mom and family for that. I can still remember my mom putting on the Amy Grant Record and dancing around and singing along with it. (Yes, a Record… and shut it, it wasn’t THAT long ago) I also remember my grandmother singing in church, and the emotion that was obvious when she sang.

Fast forward to my first experiences with music, I found very quickly I had the singing talents of a dying cow, so I turned to playing an instrument. Which ended up being the trombone. (I’ll wait for the inevitable jokes… K done now?) Over the course of 7 years in the school band, I had learned to play concert pieces, classical, religious, Jazz, swing, Latin and I learned how to improvise with a group and to play things by ear. I also learned how to march in proper heel-to-toe fashion and how to “press box” after a horn move, with out getting spit to run down my face. (For those that are trying to think when this might have happened, think about the Batman Show my Sophomore year.) (Support Music in Schools)

My Mom is stalking me…(Her words not mine)

January 22nd, 2011 by Shadow received No Comments »

So I know it is an event that rarely happens, but I am posting multiple times today. I called my mom back after she called me a few days ago and I missed her call. Now I know everyone is like “Why didn’t you call her right back?”, well I did. She didn’t answer, so I figured it wasn’t too important. Anyway I caught her on her lunch, and she told me she has been stalking me online… Now I love my mom, but sometimes she has poor choice in wording. What she meant was she watches my facebook, and my blog. She will most likely be all over my youtube channel as soon as I make it and my twitter as soon as she finds it.

Have you ever had parents keep a “digital eye” on you, or if your a parent do you keep one on your kids social media? (at age 26?)

You know the drill,

New Year, New Design (Maybe?)

January 22nd, 2011 by Shadow received 2 Comments »

So, I figured I would take a minute to post about what has been going on in my life. First I turned 26 back on the 5th of January, and I tried to take a vacation, which didn’t work out so well as I got sick. This is the third doctor that has told me I had the strangest case of strep they had every seen. (For the record, when i get strep, it doesn’t hurt my throat, which baffles doctors.)
